1960's

The Beginning

Vasanta Bhavan, a specialty vegetarian restaurant chain founded by Mr. A. Muthukrishnan in 1960 in Trichirappalli, has become renowned for its commitment to quality, taste, and health. Mr. A. Muthukrishnan was a forward-thinking, hard-working man with a deep love for food, often traveling to explore different tastes. In 1960, when Tamil Nadu was still known primarily for idli, dosa, thair sadam, and filter coffee, Vasanta Bhavan dared to innovate by introducing dishes like lassi, chhole, roti, and badam milk to the menu.

By 1974, Vasanta Bhavan had made its mark in Chennai, opening its first outlet opposite the Chennai East Railway Station.

Identity & Branding

In 1991, when the management was taken over by his son Ravi, he was determined to expand beyond Trichy and establish a new identity for the restaurant that would resonate with diners, promising food “as good as what their mother would make at home.

Our Mission

Namma Veedu Vasanta Bhavan is dedicated to reviving traditional recipes that today’s youth have forgotten or never tasted, such as Jeeraga Samba pongal, Raagi dosa, Jowar dosa, and Kambu dosa, all rich in nutrients.
